FRUM IS BEING TOO KIND

Here's the GOP ticket for 2012:

President: Gov Sarah Palin

VP: Rep Michelle Bachman, MN

This will be a perfect ticket to get wingnut support!

HEALTH CARE REFORM HEADING FOR DERAILMENT -- EVEN IF IT PASSES

When the GOP controlled the White House; Senate; and House of Representatives; why didn't they do something about health care?

No the GOP was all about the "ownership society"; and rolled over as the Financial companies were bankrupting the country.

Luckily I've never been refused coverage; but many have.

Something has to be done; and the GOP isn't helping.

SOME NEW BLOOD FOR INTELLECTUAL CONSERVATISM

Haven't we had enough of both the "free market" (which it isn't); and worshipping corporate America?

After I graduated College I went to work for a division of American Express that was run like a 3rd world banana republic: managers promoted based on favoritism rather than ability; some employees were favored above others. Everything was a crisis; nothing ran smoothly. After 3 years I left for Coke and a $3K raise.

This was my rude awakening to Corp America; and it's no wonder why the Japs ran rings around us in the 80s & 90s.

Let's see: free market. Does that include Microsoft bringing in thousands of foreign IT workers on H1-B as American programmers collected unemployment?

And the mortgage fiasco where everybody passed the buck on bad loans so they could get a piece of the pie?

Please!

PROSECUTING TORTURE AS A DISTRACTION FROM THE ECONOMY

Er, just in case you guys weren't watching TV waterboarding is TORTURE, at least according to the US ARMY!

Not only did the US prosecute Japanese soldiers for it after WW2 we even prosecuted a few American soldiers for it as well.

The Bush 43 admin made a policy of legally skirting the law; seeing what they could get away with. And if they could redefine waterboarding as not torture; then it was OK!

Bush 43 made a mockery of the Justice dept; law; and established legal procedures.

TIME TO PHASE OUT FARM SUBSIDIES

At least you're not blaming it just on FDR.

During WW1 American Farmers expanded production; only to see prices fall after the War.

During the 20s farmers continued to overproduce, and there were even schemes to limit production that were unworkable; so prices continued to fall.

The farms were the first sector of the economy to decline even before the stock market crash.

Farm subsidies and production limits were a centerpiece of the New Deal; and we've never figured out how to elimante them.

C'MON, AMERICA! SNAP OUT OF IT!

I had to do a little websurfing before I set out for BBQ; Beer; and fireworks.

Hell, even a Commie Stooge has to have some fun!

Rick is quite correct. Our national mood is indeed glum, perhaps because there seems no way out of our current crisis.

Americans have a limited attention span. We want our problems solved quickly.

Unfortunately; it's going to take years to right the economy.

PALIN RETREATS

She's toast.

Can you just imagine what the GOP attack machine would say about her as a candidate? That she resigned rather than serve out her term?

Nixon's speech losing in 1960 was better; at least it was coherent.

Palin's rambling speech makes me think that there's another shoe going to drop and soon.

A WORD ABOUT PUBLIC VIRTUE

I'm currently reading the biography "Capone: The Man and the Era" by Laurence Bergreen; and if you think Chicago politics are corrupt now; well this book about the roaring 20s shows that corruption is nothing new.

Yes, it would be nice if our politicians would be examples of upstanding virtue.

However; they merely reflect society at large. They are just imitating their Corporate Masters; who have forced their "winner take all" mentality on the rest of society.

Back when I worked in Corp America I learned the promotion depended not on qualification or experience but on friendship or nepotism.

Many times I watched as managers did questionable things; but got away with their decisions because of their positions.

PALIN: THE WAR CONTINUES

Should Palin ever be a candidate again; I'm sure that the video of her with an African pastor denouncing "witches" will enjoy a second life.

How can a Govenor from an oil state promote Creationism?

Comment Posted By Commie Stooge On 2.07.2009 @ 09:17

Here's the GOP Platform for 2012:
1) Creationism should be required teaching in public schools.
2) Alcohol should be banned and Prohibition should again be the law of the land!

These two policies alone should get the Holy Rollers back into the voting booth.

Provided they can tear themselves away from online porn.
